Hey, fish nerds!
On this week's letter of Fishy Friday, I would like to introduce my current 5 favorite fish! (I get new favorite fish almost monthly as I discover new fish!)
The panda garra (Garra flavatra) - This is a very active fish that mainly eats algea and biofilm. They are constantly active and very personable. They have a suckered type mouth and can be seen cleaning the glass, plants, or hardscape. Love these guys. Get a group of them. You wouldn't regret it!
The Electric Blue Neon Dwarf Goby (Stiphodon atropurpureus) - A very small freshwater goby. It has a very interesting body shape and swims differently than most fish. Have a lid cause these guys will climb right up and out of your tank!
The Electric Blue Acara (Andinoacara pulcher) - This fish is the star of the show and is often used as a center piece fish and for a good reason…they are incredibly beautiful. They are a cichlid but are relatively peaceful and will work great in a community tank.
Swordtail fish (Xiphophorus helleri) - This fish is a show stopper with their long tails. This fish is blazing fast and have very interesting personalities. This is a fish that will swim all levels of tour tank. A must have for any community aquarium!
The red garra (Garra rufa), also known as the doctor fish - in case you didn't realize, love all garra fish! They have some much personality and keep your tank clean at the same time! A very active fish that works well in a community tank.
And that's all for today folks! Get Dirty, be interesting, and drink milked down coffee!
Cheers, The Dirty Tank
