The Opaline Gourami, scientifically known as Trichopodus trichopterus, is a freshwater fish renowned for its vibrant colors and serene demeanor. Native to Southeast Asia, these labyrinth fish thrive in slow-moving waters and are popular among aquarium enthusiasts.

Opaline Gouramis are known for their hardiness and adaptability to various tank conditions. They are labyrinth fish, meaning they possess a specialized breathing organ that allows them to extract oxygen from the air, enabling them to survive in oxygen-deprived waters. This unique trait makes them suitable for aquariums with limited aeration.

Opaline Gouramis can thrive in a wide tange of water parameters. Here are the recommended water conditions for keeping Opaline Gouramis:

Temperature: Maintain the water temperature between 75°F to 82°F (24°C to 28°C). Keeping a stable temperature within this range is crucial for their health.

pH Level: Aim for a slightly acidic to neutral pH range, ideally between 6.0 and 7.5. This helps mimic their natural habitat conditions and supports overall health.

Water Hardness: Opaline Gouramis prefer slightly soft to moderately hard water. Aim for a water hardness (GH) between 5 to 20 dGH.

Opaline Gouramis typically reach a size of 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 centimeters) in captivity. Factors such as diet, tank conditions, and genetics can influence their growth.
